Episode 17: Disturbed's ”The Sickness."

“What’s this?! What’s this?!” A Nu episode of Back to School? In 2024! It truly is a ‘Carnival Christmas’ miracle! On this week’s episode of Back to School, we are ingesting Monster Energy Drink in musical form with Disturbed’s debut studio album “The Sickness” That's right. After three long years it's time for us to find out if being “Down with the Sickness” really is a bad thing. Listen as we discuss WHY WOULD DISTURBED WANT A FORESKIN MONSTER ON THEIR ALBUM COVER?! Seriously, We’ve been staring at it for longer than we're willing to admit and all we see is a Foreskin Monster. We also ask the hard-hitting questions “Chin Piercings…. Chin Piercings?” All this (and more) while we try to come to terms with Disturbed possibly being the most popular Nu-Metal band in the world. Is this a Christmas episode? Or did we record this ages ago and are only releasing it now? (It’s definitely the latter.) In the end, one thing's for certain. We are going to need to see a doctor because we are getting “Down with the Sickness”... INCOMPREHENSIBLE DRAIMAN NOISES!

Episode 16: Limp Bizkit’s ”Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water” Part 3.

We did it. It took three episodes, but we finally did it. This week's thrilling conclusion is filled with all the biggest questions, like; Is Ben Stiller still Fred's favourite MF? Episode 13: Insane Clown Posse’s ”A Carnival Christmas.”

Estranged from their normal podcast routine, Medium Mike and Pat Starr are lured into doing a Christmas episode with the promise of never having to do another Holiday Special, again. But, when the Christmas "album" in question turns out to be the Insane Clown Posse's "A Carnival Christmas" they are left with no choice but to make it "A Very Juggalo Christmas Special" in an attempt to save Christmas (Charlie Brown eat your heart out) Will they make it in time for Jamie's karate practice? Will they get the Turbo Man? Will this even come out in time for Christmas? Listen to find out.

Episode 12: Limp Bizkit’s ”STILL SUCKS.”

Nobody on the road, nobody on the beach. But, summer isn't out of reach just yet. We have time for one more album and we are doing something a little "different" You've been hounding us to check this one out so on the season finale of Season II we are determining if Limp Bizkit "Still Sucks" (We hope you're happy) Listen as we do the unthinkable and take a look at an album that's only four months old (THIS ISN'T THE 90'S?!) and ask the hard hitting questions; are we to blame for all of this? No, seriously. Are we to blame for this? With the resurgence of the Nu Nu-Metal, Fred Durst is now timeless and we think we're to blame for this? Also, what the fuck are Dad Vibes? We also once and for all find out who is the worst lyricist. Jacoby Shaddix or Fred Durst? The boys of Hot Nu-Metal Summer are almost gone. So, it's time to e(N)d this 2gether now.

Episode 11: Jerk’s ”When Pure Is Defiled”.

On this week's episode of Back to School, The Jerk Store called and they're running out of us. So, we are taking a look at Jerk's 2003 release "When Pure is Defiled." (That's right, Jerk. Remember Jerk?) Listen as we take the plunge into a cyber goth rave cave somewhere in the inner west of Sydney, where we discover another J.D?! In-between throwing shapes. We ask the hard hitting questions; Does the band name 'Jerk' work when it comes to merch designs? (Spoilers: No) Is a throughway an appropriate place to film your Matrix fan fiction? Have Jerk toured with every metal band in the world? (or, at least the ones that have visited Australia?) And what is it about the film 'Queen of the Damned' that makes guys in their 30's want to pierce their nipples? We also talk about Need For Speed: Underground for some reason… Seriously! Does anyone else remember Jerk? It's the first Australian release we have taken a look at so far (for shame, for shame) So, listen as we try to cram in as many Australian band references as we can to make up for it…. The Butterfly Effect.

Episode 10: System of a Down’s ”System of a Down.”

On this week's episode of Back to School we are adding a little extra "SUGAR!" to our peyote tea and going on the psychedelic journey that is System of a Down's 1998 "Self-Titled" album. Listen as we travel to the Joshua Tree in search of Nu-Metal enlightenment and ponder the questions; Should we change the podcast name so we can be closer to "SLAYERRRRRR!" Can you hear Ric 'The Nature Boy' Flair's influence on Danzig's solo albums? Is Serj the greatest noise maker, we mean "vocalist" we have ever come across? What happens to our minds when we listen to "Mind?" And, what is the superior "SUGAR!" substitute? We also test Pat's fandom of the band and see if he can tell the difference between a S.O.A.D lyric and a Kate Bush lyric (it's harder than you think) This is one trip we hope we never come down from.

Episode 09: Coal Chamber’s “Coal Chamber.”

On this week's episode of Back to School, we've wandered down the Halloween aisle at a discount party store and can't seem to get out. So, we might as well check out Coal Chamber's 1997 debut studio release "Coal Chamber" while we're here. Listen as we "steamroller through our heads" and ask the hard hitting questions; How big is this "BIG TRUCK!"? Can the "BIG TRUCK!" travel through time and space? Is the "BIG TRUCK!" all knowing? Or is the "BIG TRUCK!" more metaphorical and like a DVD copy of "The Wizard of OZ" it's been inside us this whole time? Also, why is Dani Filth dressed up like an ice cream man on the album cover? This episode is full of more "BIG TRUCK!" than Steven Spielberg's "Duel" (is anyone here old enough to get that reference?) It is the scariest time of the year ... February. So, let's get spooky!

Episode 08: Papa Roach’s “Infest.”

You wanted the worst! You got the worst! Back to School is back! And, we are declaring this to be the “Summer of Nu-Metal” In the first episode of Season 2, we are going to need to call an exterminator because we have a (Papa) Roach problem. Listen as we test Pat’s phobia of cockroaches with the album cover, while unearthing the answers to the questions; Does anybody else remember the Australian band “Full Scale?” Did we just discover a worse “rapper” than Fred Durst? Should we add an “A.D” to the end of the podcast name and what’s up with that snowboarding poster? Could this be Mushroomhead all over, again? There’s only one way to find out.
